Solis Fire Engineers was started by Jonathan Shelley in 2019. Jonathan is a former Director of Omnii, one of the largest specialist fire engineering consultancies in Australia, and prior to that, was Queensland fire engineering leader for the major international engineering, design and advisory firm Aurecon.
With over 15 years in the Australian construction industry, Jonathan has developed a reputation for delivering practical, fit for purpose, and cost-effective fire engineered solutions that successfully resolve even the most challenging design problems.
Jonathan's wealth of experience as a consulting engineer is complemented by his background in the New Zealand Fire Service, which includes operational fire fighting, fire investigation, and fire safety. Jonathan completed his career with the NZFS as the Deputy Chief of the Fire Safety Department in Auckland, where he oversaw Built Environment regulatory compliance and fire investigation for a region of 2 million people. This background provides Jonathan with insight and experience of real-world fire behaviour that few consulting engineers can match, and enables him to deal very effectively with fire brigades and other regulatory authorities, significantly reducing one of the key risk factors in the building approval process.
Jonathan underpins his extensive practical experience with a very strong technical foundation, having graduated from the University of Canterbury’s prestigious School of Engineering with a Masters Degree in Fire Engineering (with Distinction). Jonathan is a Chartered Engineer and a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
Jonathan’s goal is to bring a more personal touch to the fire engineering experience. With Solis Fire Engineers, Jonathan is focused on the level of service and technical expertise that will be applied to each and every project. By deliberately limiting the scale of operations, Solis Fire Engineers can devote more time to each client, resulting in greater attention to detail, which so often means the difference between a truly successful result, and a mediocre one. In addition to improved technical outcomes, Jonathan aims to provide greater responsiveness to client needs, by either him or Andy Brennan maintaining direct involvement in every project.
So if you are looking for great fire engineering outcomes, from a name that is respected throughout the industry, you need to talk to Solis Fire Engineers.
